Special Upgrade offer for our Dialup Customers

If you would like to have faster Internet connection, here is your chance.   Every Summer we run some kind of special.  This summer we have decided to reward our many loyal customers with an offer to upgrade their dialup service to ISDN.

If you are an existing Basic or Premium Customer you can upgrade to a single channel 64K ISDN dialup account and receive a special rate.

At the end of your Special Rate Period you may, go back to analog dialup, or discontinue the service.  At the end of your special rate period your ISDN service rate will be at our regular monthly rate which is currently $34.94 per month or you will have an option to agree to an additional 12 month commitment.  During your Special Rate Period you will be charged each month and you are obligated to maintain service with the NET connection for a period of 12 months.  A 10% discount is provided for annual payments.  If you discontinue service during our 12 month term, your penalty will be limited to the difference between your special rate and our regular rate of $34.95 per month.

To accept our offer you will need an ISDN phone line and a terminal adapter.  Your new ISDN phone line can replace an existing phone line coming into your home or business and the cost of installation varies based upon the term of your commitment to Southwestern Bell Telephone.

Dual Channel ISDN Special Offer

An ISDN phone line comes in single channel, or with one phone number or dual channel with two phone numbers.  A dual channel ISDN can replace two existing phone lines in an business or home.  A dual channel ISDN line will bond both channels together to provide a 128K connection to the Internet.   When someone calls one of the ISDN phone numbers, one channel will drop allowing the phone to ring which permits voice or fax use of the line.  The second channel will continue to provide 64K data to your computer or network and when the call is ended, it will return to 128K.  If someone picks up a phone or sends out a fax, again, one channel of the ISDN will drop allowing the operation to occur and when finished that channel will return to 128K operation.  Our current dialup rate for dual channel ISDN is $44.95 per month.

Additional Information you need to know before deciding.
1.  Unlike cable modems which provide a downstream from the Internet to your computer at a high rate but uses your phone line to send data back to the Internet at 33,600 speeds or less, single channel ISDN sends and receives at 64K (or up to 256K with compression) and dual channel sends and receives at 128K.  With compression these speeds can go as high as 512K in both directions.
2.  An ISDN phone line can replace your existing phone line.  If you have more than one phone on a single line or extensions, because all lines must be connected to the terminal adapter and can not be connected directly to the incoming ISDN line, some additional labor charges my be required to convert an existing home or business to work with ISDN. 
3.  If you are not on Southwestern Bell Telephone, then you many not have ISDN as an option in your calling area.  Check with your local phone company first. 
4.  SWBT does have special ISDN phone number prefixes.   If you are replacing existing lines, you will be issued new ISDN phone numbers.   (414 in Fayetteville, 717 in Springdale, 418 in Bentonville, etc.)
5.  Unlike analog 56K phone modems that send data to the Internet at 33,600 or less and receive data back from the Internet at 53K (FCC limit) or less, ISDN's 64K digital feed using a single ISDN channel is 5 times faster than a 56K modem and 10 times faster when dual channel is employed.
6.  Dialup ISDN is an unlimited account designed for attended human use.  It is not a dedicated connection and as with our analog dialup services, computers and routers may not be configured to maintain a 24 hour connection.   Dedicated ISDN rates start at $275 per month and we reserve the right to charge any dialup customer our dedicated rate if they have configured their computer or router to maintain untainted connections.
